The wager
Algerian audiences do not lack appetite for cinema, they lack occasions. A well-supported theatrical release, with the film's crew in the room and an audience discovering a work at the same time as its author, produces something no domestic screen replaces. That conviction has driven Libre Image from the start.

Festivals and premieres
Two festivals did not exist in Algeria. Libre Image launched them, and keeps organising premieres with visiting filmmakers.

Entrusting a film for Algeria
We handle the release across Algerian territory: visa filing, subtitling, screen plan, press and crew travel. We favour films that find an echo with Algerian audiences, from international auteur cinema to work from the Maghreb and the diaspora.

Libre Image has been a member since 2008 and takes part in the discussions on the state of the exhibition network and on operating conditions.
