On 8 May 1945 the demonstrations in Sétif, Guelma and Kherrata were crushed. The date remains one of the breaking points of Algeria's colonial history. Mariam Hamidat turns it into a documentary produced for the Ministry of Culture, named best documentary at Algiers Capital of Arab Culture in 2008.
